About us
Founded in 1992, Little Wonders: A Parent-Child Center, is a play-based, cooperative parent-child education center that teaches parents about child growth and development. We serve Bay Area families from South San Francisco to Menlo Park, and are a self-supporting, non-profit, and non-sectarian program.
We offer classes to parents of children aged 3 months to 36 months as of September 1st of each school year. Parents attend most of our classes with their children. Our facility is organized like a typical nursery school, with indoor and outdoor stations to promote all types of play. Our teaching staff is responsible for our educational direction while the Board of Directors and parents manage and operate the school. The Board of Directors is comprised of participating and alumni parents.
Little Wonders belongs to the San Mateo Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools and the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools.
Philosophy
Each parent and child is unique. It is our goal to help you develop a parenting style appropriate for your family by introducing you to the expected stages of child development. Understanding these stages will impact your expectations, and reasonable expectations are vital to good parenting. We are here to support you in your role as a parent, enhance communication within your family, and meet the specific needs of both you and your child.
For your child, Little Wonders is a “yes” environment where their choice is an important part of the curriculum. Our program provides the framework, materials, and information to allow you and your child to learn and develop together.
